The French Open 2007 - Day 8

Greetings Readers

I only saw one match yesterday and I was thoroughly disgusted with the way that it ended. If you French Open watchers watched yesterday match there was really one match that was pure horseshit on the handling of one player, in my opinion of course.

So, I got to watching the Sharapova vs Schynder match. Today's picture is of Patty Schynder. The match was good - Patty took the the first set, then Maria took the second set and then the third set begun.

First of all, I know of Patty, but I do not follow her game. I, of course, have to follow Maria, but only because she is playing the players that I have to watch.

Granted - there was a time that I adored Maria. I thought that she was a pretty good-looking Tennis player, but you guys know how it is. Once you get to know the girl/woman as oppose to the face and body well any sort of attraction that you may have has been turned off, because A. You know she is an idiot. or B. She thinks she's knows everything. or C. Her morals are not what you expected from her stature.

Yes, I wanted for Patty to beat Maria. And Patty was well on the path to victory, but then Patty did seem to lose her game. I am not going to speculate on what it might have been. You watchers probably heard that her game went bad - duh! Well both players started going bad to worst. You readers can come to your own decision.

So, there was the usual yelling, shouting before each serve and then before Maria served the ball a man yelled out and Patty immediately raised her hand in the air to signal stop/halt.

Now, I do not know the rules regarding yellers, hecklers, or whatever, but Patty did signal to the official and Maria that play should stop. Well, Maria served during the yelling. Patty did not move to return the serve since she had her hand up. The official either did not see it, or was officiating correctly. I do not know. Anyway, Patty was upset that the official called the point to Maria. Patty and the umpire argued and indicated that the point will stay to Maria.

While the arguement was ensuing. Maria was nowhere to be seen (on TV that is). We viewers do not know what she was looking or even indicating. Pure bullshit. Maria being the person she has become should of acknowledge that the point should be replayed or something. Again readers, I do not know the rules regarding this situation. I just don't know.

After the argument, Patty goes back to her court and then the crowd got to booing and jeering the call the umpire made. This went on for about 30 seconds to a minute. Meanwhile, Patty could only raise her hands to try and quiet the crowd. Oh man, I was pissed also. Un-fucking-believable. Yes readers, I am still pissed off about the call. You know this was sort of reminisces of a call years back regarding one of my favorite players that has since long retired. I was for her, but my girl did not confess that it was "wrong". Another story perhaps for another time.

The Patty vs Maria game after that calling was painful to watch. Patty went further down and I am betting that "the call" had alot to do that. Speculation, of course, on my part. One may say different if they were to watch the game.

And I bet the critics/writers today are going to say that this was a phenomenal game and Maria pulled an upset. Or something to that effect. But that is far from the truth. Maria got the bejessus kicked out of her in the first set. Then, after a medical break from Maria, she came back to beat Patty. Now, this was something that she sort of pulled in Australia. Only this time the medical break was due to her shoulder and not dehydration. Same results, after a lengthy break and basically making her opponent wait while Maria gets medical attention and do not forget - a rest and mental re cooperation her opponent gets restless and most likely loses "the zone" that she was in before the medical "time out"

The third set was good, but good that it was the demise of play between both players and the excitement was going to be Patty beating Maria. Patty did not convert three times and that was most of the problem why Maria won. Yet, during that last set and after the "ugly" call, Maria (and it was not her serve) stopped play went over to her bench to get a new racket. The announcers indicated that no strings were broken. This break took over 30 seconds and she drew a warning. Not only that - Maria drew boos and jeers from the crowd. This was not helping Maria to win the crowd since she did not help on the "ugly" call. Yes, this even pissed me off more. Again readers, sort of the same thing she was doing in Australia. When it was not Maria serve she would make the server wait while Maria would walk back to the back of her court where the shade was and then walk back. She did this on her opponent's serve almost every time.

In closing, after the match was over the applause was all for Patty and readers it was loud and clear. When Maria did her "blowing kissing victory" she drew the jeers and boos from the crowd. Even while Maria walked off, and she did very quickly mind you, she got booed. While Patty walked off, taking her time to sign autographs, she brought the house down. Clapping and cheering was in full volume. Even a quick camera shot of Maria showed her clapping for Patty, but that was only to get points from the already hostile crowd toward her.

Alright readers, my time is up so...

And do not forget "the riches" finale.

Until the next time
