Greetings Readers
I said this once before and I will say it again - Another Fallen Athlete - Lleyton Hewitt.
I was up for 27 hours straight and finally got to rest at about 4:14 AM (MST) this morning. I rested until 6:30 AM when I had to get up and go to work on Martin Luther King's Day. Very cold here in Denver, Colorado Yet, this was not as bad as two days ago being up for 30 hours. Overall, I have had very little sleep in the past 96 hours. I love the Australian Open!
Hewitt vs. Djokovic - Djokovic (Pictured on today's post) showed Hewitt the reason why Novak is ranked number three in the Tennis World. I knew that, but there is always a chance with Djokovic getting tired if the match got long. No such thing this morning. A straight three setter and Hewitt just did not have game. I could not speculate if Djokovic was on fire, Hewitt was tired from the match before, or perhaps his foot blisters had a factor. Perhaps Hewitt had an off day.
I will not assume - I want to remember this fabulous run by Hewitt and especially the "Loss" that administered to Marcos Baghdatis. I still tear up from just thinking about that scene I saw 48 hours ago. A match to go down in history - latest start for a match at the Australian Open.
The other matches were sort of routine. Tonight - we have Henin vs. Sharapova. Sharapova looks better than last year, but I still give the edge to Henin.
Until the next time
Daryl Charley
