End of April

Greetings Readers

This is probably the last good day of the week (and month) to ride. Which made me think since today is the last day of the month and this will be the last time that I can take out Rebecca for the month - What the hell.

Also, since my winter bike is constantly getting flats do to my fucking stubborn attitude of not buying a cheap tire while my 4 Pro Race 2 Michelin Bike tires arrive and changing the tube is getting so ever so fucking so old I just wanted to ride another of my girls that I am not destined to get a flat.

I guess before I go on. Yes, I take full responsibility for the flats I have been getting every day. Nope, not every "fucking" day since I am not "fucking" mad. These flats are expected and I have no reason to get mad, except for my unwillingness to buy another tire while I just spent $ 159.00 bones (on sale) on bike tires that I am expecting any day now. Yes, I know a relatively cheap bike tire can be bought, but that is not how I operate. Or in slang - "That's not how I roll, my brother"

Just the thought of putting some cheap 10.00 dollar tire on my my precious girls is unthinkable! I will not compromise my "fucked up" way of thinking on what I consider to put on my bike and not what I consider not to put on my bike. Hey, that sounds like a Confucius saying. Nayh.

Anyway, I am at a point in my life that I do not have to settle for what I can get for cheap, or on availability. If I want something in particular I will make every effort to get what I want. Even if that means a drastic change of life in order to get what I want. Oh years back I often had to prepare myself for buying the things I want by cutting back on what I eat for two weeks or a month. Oops - I digress that is another topic for another time.

Now, getting back to buying a tire while my tires comes via mail. I will not also buy the same exact brand and model, but different color than I wanted in order to compromise for buying a new tire at the bike store up the street. One could say that - oh you could change that tire out once you get your new tires to another one of your bikes. I could, but I won't. Again, that is settling for what you have available to you as oppose to going out and getting what you want.

And again I state this I want my money's worth out of a $ 50.00 dollar tire (if not on sale). I will ride that tire until the integrity of the walls of the tire is so bad that the tire wobbles and I can feel the duct tape, coke box cardboard every time my tire connects with the asphalt. I am done with the tire when I know I absolutely can not get any more use of the tire. There are usually about 5 to 10 holes in the tire, threads hanging from the tires, the tire is so worn out that all you can see are threading/weaving of the tire and no rubber.

Wait, I can hear you now. Why don't I take off a tire from another one of my girls? Not in a chance in hell. Period.

By the way readers - I finally got a mini-photo shoot of Rebecca this evening - pictured. I have to say she is looking ever so beautiful. I have decided to put the new yellow tires I ordered on Rebecca and then I will switch these tires that are currently on Rebecca to Andrea and then I will switch Andrea's tires and switch them to Tracey. Then, I will keep the one good tire of Tracey and put that on Heidi. And yes - the tire that is causing the flats the past week will be tossed into the garbage. But I did order 2 dark blue Pro Race 2 Michelin tires so I might decide to put that on one of the girls as opposed to keeping them as back up.

Until the next time

Grand Theft Auto IV - Limited Edition

Greetings Readers

As the Title says - Grand Theft Auto IV is what I now own.

Long story short is that I did put a deposit down, but with all the hype I was afraid that the vendor would sell my reserved copy. Hell, if I was the vendor and the demand was higher than the supply I would sell the reserved copy to have cash on hand for reporting, especially at end of month reporting.

Anyway, that was my thinking at about 11 PM and right there I decided to head down to the store to pick up my reserved copy - just to be safe - at midnight. I wanted to be sure that I copy a Grand Theft Auto and not be told that I could not have one the following day. I am sure they could have used many excuses, but the one that pops up in my mind is that - sorry, Rockstar did not ship us many versions, but you will get a copy on the next shipment. I just did not want to hear or wait for that to happen.

I did play for about 45 minutes and yes I was impressed. I can now take back that I spent 460.00 bones I spent on the Playstation 3 and that I was sort of unhappy with my purchase at the time. I will eat crow and apologize.

Grand Theft Auto IV has paid off in my opinion and I did get the limited edition - A key chain, a lock box, music CD, art book and a duffel bag. It was an extra 30 bones, but I thought to myself since I am a Grand Theft Auto fanatic I figured what the hell.

I am in no hurry to complete the game as soon as possible at all. My goal is to have fun and take time. It is a world that I enjoy getting pulled into. Ever since I picked up Grand Theft Auto 3 years back on a whim, I have been forever a changed person about violence in a game like this. Sure there is language, blood, violence, degradation, etc., but yet it is in fun. and NO. There is no way that I am subconsciously thinking that this is what I wished to do. The franchise itself has introduced me to something that is more than just a typical shoot em up game. You have to work at getting shot, running a person down, etc.

Anyway, I love the radio, the scenery, the game itself. Wow. The driving is a bit weird, but I can overlook that. The people on the street, the trash blowing in the street, black smoke blowing from junker car, the faces of the people in the game, Internet, etc.

Until the next time

Basso & Hamilton

Greetings Readers

It has been almost one year to the date that I did a post regarding Ivan Basso and him getting a two year ban. I just visited the sports cycling section and I see that he has signed onto Team Liquigas for next year.

Long story short Ivan Basso's 2 year ban ends on 10/24/08 and his "new" contract starts 01/01/09. Apparently, Ivan has been training since being suspended and should be ready to race come January.

That is good news to hear for Basso.

Hamilton, Tyler Hamilton, appears to be racing again from I just read and found out. I have mixed opinions on him, specifically during the Tour de France when he made the motion to make everyone "hold up" until that one certain rider catches up after crashing. Fuck. Thinking about it now just starts me getting worked up. Jan would have won the Tour de France that year if he had not listened to Tyler.

Yet, on the flip side I was impressed by one stage win, perhaps it was his only stage win, that he took that stage. Or perhaps I am getting my riders mixed up with Tyler. I just do not remember or it was nothing of note to remember.

Settling

Greetings Readers

Settling. I do not like to settle. If I want something I usually make the effort to get what I want. Though the only one subject I do not do this is with women. I guess I still do not have the confidence in that area. And I do not know why? I mean from what I have written and what you read I am a guy that gets what he wants. Usually, by any means at my disposal. Yet, with regards to women I just do not apply that same drive to go get the woman, in a manner of speaking of course. Oops - digressing from the topic.

Settling. This topic came to light when I was in the neighborhood liquor store that I go to. You know the place where they know you by name.

The two co-owners know what I love to drink and what I do not drink. Notice - I did not say what I do not like to drink. I do make my opinion known on what I like to drink.

I have and will continue to state that I do not drink what I consider to be cheap beer. For example - Bud (and all associated types), Miller lite, Milwaukee's Best, Keystone, Coors, to name a few.

Though I do like MDG (Miller Genuine Draft) and Corona. They are consider to be cheap since I can buy them for a cheap price. What?

Oh, my beer that I drink is usually over seven dollars a six pack. My current buy is $ 12.00 a six-pack (pictured - Storm King). Yes, that is correct. I buy and drink what I like. I will not settle on drinking more beer for the same price. When I spend $ 12.00 dollars on a six pack I know it is something that I will enjoy to the last drop. I can hear some of you readers thinking wow - he could get two six packs for that same price or if you want to settle for cheap beer you get a 24 pack.

Not going to happen with me.

I just noticed in the past month that the beer that I drink went up in cost. What was told to me is that there is (or perhaps was - I did not ask) a hops shortage, which has caused the rise in price of beer.

Funny thing was that I did not give a second thought to the extra cost. I paid the amount and did so without a second thought.

To each his/her own. If you drink what I consider cheap beer so be it. I think nothing more or less of you. You may like it. It may be the only thing you can afford. Or perhaps it is the only beer that you like in taste. I do not know nor is it my concern. I am concerned for myself.

I drink and buy what I like or want to try and taste. Oh yes, I am an equal opportunity drinker. I love trying new beers that I have never tasted before. Yet, I will not make myself drink those beers that have strawberry, apricot, or some fruity essence. I am sure it may be good, but just the thought of a fruity taste in a beer does not sound too good to me

Anyway, I thought to go to this subject once more since there is/was a hops shortage and I have been paying more for drinking my beer I am currently drinking.

Until the next time

Looking for Love

Greetings Readers

Let me take you readers off the beaten path for a bit.

I guess I never really, really have talked about my relationships. I have told you readers over and over that I love women who are blond. Yet, I am an equal opportunity employer in a manner of speaking. I, of course, am attracted to blonds, but by no means is that a hard rule that I stick to.

Matter of fact I am always getting the brunette. Yet, hair color does not really mean anything, I guess when I saw my first and dated a California blond I was forever changed.

Eye color is nice, but that is something that I do not take into consideration on first impression. I am not going to look at woman’s eye and think to myself “too blue” and not give her the chance of the day. I think the most important thing that I want to notice about a woman is her body type. I love slim, athletic, voluptuous body type, but have dated woman who are a few pounds over my desired type.

I do not care for a woman who does not have any intelligence to them. She has got to have something upstairs for me to connect to. Also, I need for her to notice when I am being sarcastic and not being mean. Also, I can not stand the young girl, head tilting, voice changes on every syllable of every word she says.

I love a woman’s thighs, breast are great, but that is something that I do not consider a high “thing” on my list that a like on a woman. To each his own. There are some things that I consider sexy and other things that I do not take into consideration.

I am much older and I hope wiser. I am looking for a woman who is mature, experience, laid back, and confident with herself.

Unfortunately with me, all my woman friends are married or in relationships. I have learned from the past, meaning my past mistakes that I can never, ever think of a married/dating woman more than just a friend. I am human and when I was younger I did not know what I know now nor the consequences of what my actions would do to me and the other person and their life. Though I will take every opportunity to look like I am the guy that belongs with/to her.

Anyway, I have recently started to make the effort to look for someone to date regularly. I sure hope that this is not mid life crisis or anything close to that. And yes I joined a dating service.

I hate to say that I do enjoy having my life intact. I do not have any responsibilities to the woman I am dating nor do I have the obligation to keep her interested in me. I know that I am going to have to work, put in the effort to date once more, but I am not going to be doing all the work.

I better stop right here. I was typing more and more and I started to get into the relationship once I have found her and I think at this moment I better keep that a secret – for now. I have to keep a bit of mystery to me when I blog to the world on the Internet.

No Friday Flats

Greetings Readers

Today, I watched the morning with more than the usual interest. I needed to know what the weather was going to be today. I did hear that supposedly it was suppose to rain and/or snow today a few days earlier

I woke up this morning and decided that I did not want to deal with another flat bike tire this week. And since I have run out of spare tires I have to either choose to buy a cheap tire until my expensive high quality tires that I ordered on Thursday arrive. (by the way - I was surfing the Internet when I stumbled across the website http://www.coloradocyclist.com/ and I found some great deals on brands I use.) Or I use all my other bikes that are not winter bikes when there is no chance for rain or snow in the days before I get my new tires. Or lastly, I just grin and bear it and try to deal with the almost daily bike flats until I get my new tires.

I am basically used to the constant flat tires, but it is starting to wear me thin dealing with the bike flat repair. And more importantly trying to get the "black stuff" off my hands from changing the bike tire

Sounds like I got off topic. I heard that the weather forecast was going to be okay - cool and windy, but no rain. I decided right there to take Andrea out for a Friday ride to and from work. I still have the original tires that I bought a week after I bought her. Oh yes, I took off the tires that were on the bike when I purchased her. Not my type nor did I want that on Andrea. I only have to have what I like to use on my bikes

Fast forward - It was a nice Friday not to have to worry about where the next flat tire was going to come. Although I was still ready for a flat to happen.

And I put a deposit down for Grand Theft Auto IV - Limited Edition for the PS3.

Bike Flats & More Bike Flats

Greetings Readers

I was actually surprised on how good the weather was today. I was expecting to have a cold and rainy day, but alas I was wrong. Whew.

I guess the thing that I need to start off with is that I have had two more bike flats in the past two days. One was last night while coming home and the other was tonight while going home. The first flat I thought that something sharp had punctured the tire since there was a nice round hole showing through the tire patch. I looked for a thorn in tire itself, but I did not find one and thought that the thorn had fell out while I was pulling over to the side of the road.

Oh, oh, oh. As I was leaving the parking garage at work I watched a vehicle pull out and lo and behold there was a flat rear right tire. The driver noticed right away and stopped. I coasted by and pointed to the back tire. I did not laugh but a small smile. Not a vindictive smile either since this whole week I have had flats almost every day.

Fast Forward - half mile later and that is when I got my flat tire and I immediately smiled, uttered a short laugh and said "son of a bitch" softly. I of course knew that this bike flat was coming, but I just do not know these days. Considering the condition that my spare tire is in. And of course me trying to get every penny I spent on that $ 50.00 plus Michelin bike tire Pro 2 Race. Believe me, that I want to make sure that I do get my money's worth, but in the case the patches that I have left and I am going to have to cave and get those tires I ordered pretty quick.

Current day - This evening as I was coming back from the bank I hear the tire go flat. Damn. This is getting to be like a broken record, but at least I know these flats are to be expected. I am not surprised nor am I pissed off since I know this is coming. Anyway, the flat was in the new part of the tube. I did not align the patches to the holes in the tube so basically there was no protection and the tube just got worn on the exposed parts of the tube that are showing through the tire itself.

No big deal. I fixed and was able to get home without any more incidents.

By the way - today's picture is of me in one of the RTD bus stops coverings. I know you readers are probably getting tired of seeing basically the same shot. I am too. But, I really have not had the time to scout/think for a new theme to take. Also, I have been busy this week due to month end close. And today was something else.

SouthPark Jersey & Tires

Greetings Readers

"That is an awesome shirt"

"That is one cool bike shirt man"

This first statement was said to me in the grocery store (Safeway) on Monday while I was shopping for my dinner. A girl who I would consider cute, but probably too young for me - maybe. I said "thank you" and walked by her. And I tighten up (flexed) my thigh muscles just to show off my well muscled thighs. Too bad I did oil up. Hah Hah. Nope, I did not look back nor did I hear her voice again.

The second statement was said to me while I was putting a deposit down for Grand Theft Auto IV by the cashier in the store. A young guy. I turned around and showed him my back of the jersey and he laughed.

I do not think I need to tell you faithful readers what bike jersey it is. However, if you are not the faithful readers it was the Southpark Bike jersey with Cartman pictured pretty big on the front of the jersey - pissed off.

Anyway, I of course got a big smile and my mood lifted dramatically.

Moving on. Nothing really to write about. Two bike flats in three days, but you know what I am OK with it. I was not bent out of shape. The replacement tire that I put on from the other tire that was heavily worn out is now at the same exact stage. I have duct tape, patches, and light cardboard all inside of the back tire trying to keep the integrity of the tire intact.

Last night I actually had to change a tire without any tires levers. I forgot them at home, when I was last changing my flat. The tire was not too difficult to take off and on since the tire was well worn out. However, if this tire had been new I bet that I would have yelling and screaming like Donald Duck on a fucking temper tantrum.

Tomorrow, I will most likely order four Yellow Pro race2 Michelin tires for two of my bikes - Tracey and Rebecca. I have decided to go the yellow route this season since it has been some years since I have used yellow. Last year was Gray, the year before was blue, year before that was red, then I can not remember anymore after that. Green?

What is even more sad is that I color coordinate my tires with the appropriate bandanna handlebar wraps I put on.

I know, I know but I am a name brand wh-re

Update 04-23-08 8:05 PM - The name of the cyclist that was killed by a USPS Truck (and yes he was wearing a helmet) was Shahram Moghadamania - 53 years old. I do not know him, but take a second to remember for another Fallen Athlete in Colorado.

Earth Day 2008

Greetings Readers

I really do not have a topic to really to get into, but I thought to just make a quick post.

Earth day. Nothing bad, I think, on my part, but I do not have a clue how long Earth Day has been around, but I am getting tired of days being named after something that is just "not right" in my book. I am not against Earth day, but pul-leeze. I think there are three holiday's this week alone. Granted, none of them are official holiday's recognized by my company (meaning I do not have the day off), but they are implying a Holiday for whatever day.

Like today's pic I have taken of myself. I could name this day - "TESB Day" a.k.a The Empire Strikes Back" bike jersey wearing day. I could also include the "Don't fuck with me on TESB Day." Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's the ticket. I'm all for it.

A pretty nice day.

Old School and Southpark

Greetings Readers

You know that I do not have a clue how fast the "Coors Amphitheatre" sign was changed, but as you can see from the post of today's picture you can see me and my bike in all our glory that was taken yesterday afternoon at Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. I am pretty sure that the sign was changed on Friday. Perhaps it could have been on Thursday.

I love seeing the original name of the venue on the sign - and of course, me and my bike and what the hell - my thighs in the picture. =)

And as you can tell I wore my Southpark bike jersey and oh yes, I got the

"I love your shirt"

From some lady at the gas station on that morning. I said "Thank you very much" with a big ole smile that said a lot more.

I mean really who does not love this Southpark jersey. And I know I have written at great lengths about this Southpark Bike jersey, but I can still add more. I just love the attention and not to mention that character that is featured pretty prominently says so much about me. On some level me and Cartman are alike, but I do not want to be associated to Cartman at all. Yet, that look he has on my bike jersey is just the sort of look I have and not to mention that is the way I probably present myself most of the time. Unless, you are just downright adorable looking then I have a smile and a "I want to know" attitude.

By the way - I kept my bike riding to a minimum this weekend and I did not run any events either due to me 95 percent well and 5 percent sick. I wish I did, but then again it was windy all weekend.

Stop Light Intersections

Greetings Readers

I was going through the residential areas today when I noticed what I have been doing and never thought twice about it.

This does go hand in hand with stop signs. When I am going through residential areas I often take the common route (minor street) through the community. Following that route I often come out to a major thoroughfare. In this case let me use Quebec Street. As I come out there is a stop light and 99 percent of the time it is red. That is because the traffic on Quebec has higher traffic and also the major road.

I pull up to the stop light and usually it is only me at the light, unless during morning or evening rush hour traffic. More often than not I am out during the non-busy times. I am at the stop light and I look right and left and do this routine one more time. After looking and I see that there are no vehicles coming either way I proceed to cross the road, on a red light. Yes. There you have it. I think I am worse than a stop sign runner.

I have reasons and excuses, but I guess if I was holding court I am breaking the law. I can argue that I did look both ways before crossing and saw no car(s) nowhere near the stop light I was at. I did not put myself nor any vehicle in any danger when I cross(ed) the major street. I could argue that I do not weight enough to trigger the signal in the pavement (electronic sensor loop) in order to get the stop light to change or there is not enough/no metal in/on my bike to set off the metal detector. Yet, I should know better than that when I can get off my bike, walk and push the crosswalk button in order to trigger the changing of the stop light. Bottom line - I am breaking the law when I cross against a red stop light.

This is something that I probably do on a regular basis and I was not really aware of how I "harp" on stop sign runners who run the stop signs.

Again, I can argue at least I stop at the Stop Light intersection, but I am more at danger when crossing that street since the other vehicles have the green and have the right of way. And I could also say that I am taking taking the extra precautions to check the street both ways before I cross against red light signal. I could also state for the record I never coast through a red light. But all in all, they are excuses and I am ultimately responsible for my actions.

Anyway, I thought to share this particular situation since I am more often than not calling "the kettle black."

On a side note - after my Sunday morning ritual I read an article in the Sunday Denver post - "Postal vehicle swerves across road, kills cyclist" Short and sweet article and no I do not mean that in a condescending way. At 5:25 PM a woman driving a USPS residential delivery truck crossed the yellow line and hit the cyclist that was estimated to be in his 50's. The State Patrol said investigators were still on the scene Saturday night. Another Fallen cyclist...

Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre

Greetings Readers

I am not going to say that I got my wish. But. Desire. Oh yes! Or perhaps it was the words of my blog. Am I that powerful of a writer? A blogger? Nope. Only in my world.

Well, was it on Monday that I wrote about Coors Amphitheatre and what I thought about the venue?

As I was listening to FOX news this morning I hear a blurb that caught my ears. The TV was on for background noise when I hear "Coors Amphitheatre." I stopped and ran into the living room to see what was being said.

I can not say word for word, but basically Coors Amphitheatre is no longer. I was shocked. Then, I hear that Coors is pulling their name in favor of focusing soley on sport events. Nothing more was given besides that.

I am happy. Old School. Old School Baby!

Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. The way it shall be from now til the end of my time.

I guess I should actually talk about the venue. Yes, I have seen many concerts there and it is a place to see a concert. Not anywhere close to the grandeur of the Red Rocks Venue, but I do like the idea of a venue right near where I live. Yes, mainly because of distance. I also like getting the "lawn" seating and just sitting and enjoying a concert while sitting on the "green." I could care less about the spectacle and sound, per se, since I am way in the back of the venue.

I will tell you what I like. I like sitting on the lawn enjoying hopefully a nice evening, with a beer/Jack Daniels in my hand and having someone to enjoy the concert with. I also like to watch other people in back. I like seeing a parent/parents with their younger child(ren) and perhaps seeing a concert for a first time and the pure joy of seeing a concert with their mom/dad.

Yes, I was moved once by a Dad that brought his daughter to an Iron Maiden concert years ago. The Dad was probably my age, a typical looking dad and his young daughter (7-10 years old I assumed) dancing and talking to Dad while they were on the "green." I remember thinking to myself, wow - taking his daughter to an Iron maiden Concert. Definitely Old School, but definite not a stuck up Dad. This was the music that he and I probably listened to while in High School.

And yes readers, I will keep my eye out and take a NEW picture of me in front of the new, old sign of Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre when I see the signage displayed in the area that I took the picture earlier this week.

By the way, I want to think it was the voice of me (my blog) that made the change back to Fiddler's Green this week. Oh yes, I am that powerful of a writer. I have that kind of power. yes, I am smiling like a dictator probably would.

Anyway, I better get off my soapbox, before I get myself high on a pedestal.

Bib Numbers

Greetings Readers

I was doing some house cleaning and re-arranging when I decided that I would try and take a photograph of all my racing bib numbers that I have accumulated over the years. I was able to find most of the numbers, but I did not find a few years (minus 2005 since that the year of the Ironman Arizona and I elected to take off the whole year).

I tried arranging the bib numbers and not arranging, but nothing looked "right." I decided to line up the numbers and get a shot as you can see. I did want to get an entire shot since that would make the bib smaller in the picture and not very pretty. With that in mind I kept the distance you see in the picture as the distance I wanted to use and I think it actually came out pretty good. You can make out most of the words and numbers on the bibs which was the goal for this photograph

There was just one bib number (well two, but I keep that other bib number under lock and key and in mint condition) that will always be forever kept separate from all my other bib numbers. This was the bib number for my 2005 Ironman Arizona. I hated to put any crease in the bib, but alas I did. I hate to say this, but this is what I wanted ever since I started my athletic career. Also included is my wrist band that I was required to wear from check in date to the day of the Ironman race.

Anyway, I love seeing all my bib numbers through out the years. Seeing all those bib numbers make my life and what I have done seem much worth every cent, blood, family, dedication, women, TV and anything else I hold close to my icy heart that I had to put second since my Athletic Life was my number one priority.

Well, I still hold that number one, but now I am happy to say I have done everything I wanted to in life. Except Ironman Hawaii (Highly unlikely I will ever, ever get to do) which I still want so badly. I am content with what I have accomplished so far in my Athletic career - pictures, stories, memories, medals, articles, personal contributions and friends all have marked to show I made a difference in my life and hopefully others

Caught Without My Pants

Greetings Readers

Yep, I have no excuse(s) (as with the Ignorant Biker - he/she would have any excuse ready for you) nor will I blame anyone for being caught out in the snow this evening in this particular state of dress.

I knew the news weather "Fore"-cast that was going to be for today. Rain/Snow was expected to be for today, but I was under the impression that the rain/snow was not going to be until after 6 or until later this evening. I was not expecting the snow to start at 3:00 PM where I work. Sure enough that was the case. I even listen to the news this morning and that Crystal on FOX news said snow would be falling later this evening. Yeah, I know, I know - I should have packed my long bike pants and wore a jacket to be safe, but I just did not want to. Period.

I was fucked.. er past tense - I am fucked. I gambled, which meant that I am stuck without a jacket and long bike pants. I did take a picture to capture how I got caught in the snow storm that started this afternoon.

I went to the "Sunday Ritual" picture taking place to take a picture since I have had not taken a "Ritual Sunday" picture for about a month now.

Actually, the weather was not too bad and the evening was actually warmer than it was this morning. Oh yes readers, I was pretty cold this morning while going to work this morning. Yet, this evening I was okay. There was a slight "bite of cold" in the gusty wind blowing, but very very doable. The snow flakes kept hitting my eyeballs which was a bit annoying so I had to ride with one hand up blocking the snow from hitting my eyeballs. No big deal - I will adapt and not make a whole post to feel sorry about me.

Not this guy. Hah Hah - okay, every now and then I will write to feel I need sympathy, but by no means am I looking for sympathy. Like is not fair and not everything is handed to everyone on a silver platter. Nor do I need your sympathy in general. =) Unless you are a cute Blonde with eyes to turn on any guy, such as myself.

I did get quite a few looks and comments and even one vehicle (pictured in the back of this picture) turn around and ask if I was OK. Yeah right, perhaps she saw my "tight well muscled developed thighs" and this was an excuse to ask me anything to me. Or of me. [Well, the picture did not capture the thighs nicely - the thighs actually look bland =( perhaps it was the cold, me not showing off the thighs and I do not even remember if I was flexing for the picture.]

Oh yes readers, I am laughing as much as you are. Nope. I am sure that it was not my "tight well developed thighs", but I will be Damn if that the passenger was fucking oh so Cute. She is right up Mr. Charley's alley on what he likes. Nope, I did nothing, except to respond "No, I am OK" and smiled. I then ran to my bike to get the picture you see on today's post before the timer expired. Oh yes, she was real cute. Even more so when I smiled back. Damn - I was thinking about the picture shot and did not even think about making small talk to her. Shaking my head in disbelief. I could have had a date with this unknown woman. Who knows.

A Tuesday with Rebecca

Greetings Readers

Today was the first time this year that I took Rebecca out for a ride. I knew that today was going to be spectacular, but very windy in the afternoon.

The weather forecaster, er actually the "chief" meteorologists all over the local Denver weather stations predicted very nice weather. Wait readers - if you are not in the Denver area do you readers also have a lot of "chiefs" on your local news station? Who in the heck refers to them as chiefs. Thank goodness that we are past Gail "Storms", John "Tornado", Ashley "Showers", etc. I know it was, or perhaps still is, a cliche, but those who incorporate weather into their names are just so hokey sounding. Or in my opinion - so full of themselves (Sounds very familiar =) )

I digress With today going to be a pretty day - the night before I got Rebecca cleaned up. I checked her gears, cables, and tires. I wiped her down from all the dust that had accumulated throughout the past 6 months. I had to pump up the tires since they were both flat.

After all that was done - I decided to take some pictures of Rebecca. I am not sure why. Perhaps seeing all other bloggers taking pictures of their bikes from head to toe. I did not see the draw of taking many, many pictures of Rebecca, but I made sure to take some pictures that were worth posting to my blog.

Readers - nothing new about these pictures, except they are new angles of Rebecca. No, I will not make a new procedure to take many pictures from different angles of my bike and post, but every now and then I might do that for each bike I own.

Fast forward. I took her out and gingerly rode her at the speed of 13 mph. I was no hurry and I wanted to make sure everyone got a good look at her when I rode her all today.

I got my first comment when I was on Light Rail this morning.

"She is really a nice bike." a Light Rail passenger said to me.

"Thank you very much" I said smiling. A year later and she still gets respect.

And that is what makes my day. A single sentence like that passenger said can make the whole day pleasant

The evening ride home was a bit windy, which I made the choice (no excuse) to ride on the sidewalk. Due to the windy and gusty winds at times me and Rebecca were being blown all over the side of the road. I did want to take the chance to be blown into the middle of the road by a rogue wind into the front of a vehicle. Sidewalks all the way home is just perfectly fine.

Andrea & Coors Amphitheatre

Greetings Readers

What a beautiful evening it is. There was the Sun - in all her glory. I can not see a cloud in the sky, as the weather forecasters indicated this morning. I also went out for lunch and around noon and the weather was the same, but not as warm as it is this evening.

Anyway, today was the first day of the new year that I took Andrea out for a ride since mid last year, I think. I wanted to mark the occasion with a picture of me at the Coors Amphitheatre.

However, if you are old school, or you believe in "Old School" then this venue will forever be known as Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. I hate all these Stadiums, Venues, Amphitheatres, Coliseums, etc, being named after a Corporate Entity (most likely a "Giant" corporate entity). To me that is a sellout. Only after the money, the moolah. Which I believe in, but not for this type of subject. Again, this is only my opinion.

I did not want to take this picture with me in front of the logo, but I really needed something for Andrea's first ride of the year within riding distance of home and me still recovering from being sick last week. I do not want to promote a name that I do not "believe" in. This was also the first time that I got to wear my Santa Fe Century bike Jersey from the Santa Fe Century 1994. Four years old and she is still beautiful and almost very fine condition.

Then, I have another picture of just Andrea by herself. Is she not the prettiest thing you have ever seen. Boy, I am still very fond of Andrea. Once upon a time I remember me telling everyone that my front fork is made of Carbon Fiber. This was the first time that I ever bought a bike with Carbon Fiber on the bike frame. Of course, I have installed carbon handlebars and seat posts, but I never really thought that of a "true" Carbon on a bike. Andrea does have a nice front fork. And what makes her even more unique is when I douse her tires and seat pack in red, which offsets the black and white on the bike itself.

Not to mention her color scheme. I loved the colors - Black and white - Wait readers! I know Black and White are not "True" Colors, but I am not getting technical this time. I am going to have to check how long I have had Andrea, but I think this is her fourth year (perhaps fifth year) and I have only put on 2,014.50 miles on her. Andrea averages about 500 miles per year, but though I can guarantee you readers that during her first two years she hardly went out at all. Just like Rebecca now, I do not want her to get wet, snowed on or muddy. Andrea has to be Pristine!

Cleaning Up After Being Sick

Greetings Readers

The title says it all. I have been cleaning and airing out the humble abode today. The temperature is suppose to be in the 60's today. I need to get clean fresh air, I need to smell clean everywhere and more importantly I need to clean up while being sick

An update. Before the cleaning began I had to go to Target to get some cleaning supplies and a few other things. One place I usually go to in the store is a discount area for electronics. Sometimes, I can find some really good deals on what I like or use.

This time around I found a SONY earphones marked down. The same exact model that I just bought and posted about a few days ago. I could not believe this. It was on clearance for 7.48 and the packaging was partially open. I thought to myself that someone perhaps opened the package and now did not want. I thought about perhaps the earphones were damaged. Perhaps something else was wrong. I thought about the earphones for about 15 seconds or so then I decided when I go up to the check out I will ask someone if I can try out the earphones since the package was already open.

Long Story short. I have another new SONY earphone for about 8 dollars. Woo Hoo! I guess when it rains it pours. I am really happy that I found the same exact pair on clearance. Do not get me wrong I would still buy the full price, but if it is on clearance then I am totally game for buying an extra one just to have one. Two is better than one - or none.

In Target, I also saw the display for Gran Turismo 5 and Grand Theft Auto for PlayStation 3. Damn. Now, I am going to have to finally buy the PS3. I have been holding and holding off payment for some time now. I have been specifically waiting for these two titles before making the 400.00 or 500.00 purchase. That's just alot of money.

Saturday - A Rest Day

Greetings Readers

So, today was spent at home. Resting, resting, and resting. I have been watching the Deadliest Catch Marathon on TV today.

I also made some chicken and rice soup, with celery, carrots, snow peas, green onions, onions and mushrooms. I, of course, added various spices. initially I did go a bit overboard on the pepper in the soup, but that was brought down after some more ingredients were added. I was worried that I actually made a peppered chicken soup... er was making a peppered chicken soup. Oh, this time around I decided to use a vegetable (vegetarian) broth instead of a chicken broth. I wanted the flavor of the soup to be different as opposed to an all chicken soup base.

Anyway, I started making soup last night and finished up this morning. I have been having that all through out the day. What? Oh, I used a crock pot to make this soup and I have to say that I did pretty darn good.

Getting back to the Deadliest Catch.

"I want that crab count and I want it NOW!"

Wow. Hearing that from Sig Hansen (pictured on today's post) of the Northwestern makes me get choked up on what is about to come on the new season of the Deadliest (Season Four to you readers). Oh, I know my Captains from the show. I know that commercial does not show who shouts that sentence since that Captain's back is to the camera, but I know. And Sig does not take any shit at all. Like me. I guess that is the reason why I get choked up and a certain feeling comes over me knowing that I am not the only ones who demands what he wants.

Yet, in the commercial I did not really like seeing another "fight" amongst the deck hands/Captains - I am not sure which it is. Yet, it is Discovery trying to probably use that as a story line and if so I think I am not going to care for it. And I also hope that they do not drag out a day storyline for three episodes like last year. That just sucked. I think last year I was turned off by that and I actually only really watched the first and last 15 minutes of the show to the get the basis of the show. And truth be told I never saw the last episode until months later.

Sorry, I did not get to talk about the Ignorant Biker latest incident. I will write tonight and post tomorrow.

Is that that Sunlight I see

Greetings Readers

I can now see the light (from getting out of the woods). Just the runny nose/sniffling with lots of phlegm. I know - whatever.

I had some whole chicken last night - pretty basic though - some seasoning and then I just threw the chicken thighs into the oven. The important thing is that I am eating a meal as oppose to eating really nothing. Though, I have lost 3 pounds since Monday.

Today, I was able to get back onto the bike after I rode last on Monday. I am still physically wiped. I had some difficulty riding up the hills, small inclines, but otherwise I think I am back onto the road of recovery. I am going to have to make this weekend a rest weekend. I need to get healthy as soon as possible.

Today's picture post is Tracy which was taken earlier this week on Monday, before the snow, while I was waiting for the RTD, since I was literally worn out from start of being sick. Anyway, is she not beautiful. Tracey has been my new winter bike for the past two years. She has seen the icy cold winter of Colorado for two years straight. She has gone through a second set of rims and those are the current ones I have on her. Her gear train, teeth, hub, crank are getting worn out pretty quickly, since I feel her skipping gears more and more.

It is suppose to be in the 70's next week and I want to take Andrea out for her first ride of the year - as long as it is sunny.

I have not been keeping up with some of the blogs I frequent and well I do have another topic to talk about. And yes - this will be courtesy of the Ignorant Biker once more. The Ignorant Biker that has the holier than I better than everyone else attitude since I am "entitled" to the streets of Denver. I shall discuss that topic tomorrow. I have refrained from adding my two cents worth since other people have made a comment on what I would have said. No point to reiterate what was said and not to add another notch on their post about that blogger "Redhooktyrant"

Physically Sick, Mentally Well

Greetings Readers

I did not run yesterday. I am sick. In a manner of speaking. My nose is running, which I am blowing when the occasion calls for a tissue. I bought some Dayquil this morning, along with a box of tissues and Ruby Red Grapefruit juice.

Mentality I feel like I am on top of the world, but the body is showing signs of sniffling, some coughing, phlegm, but other than that I feel fine. My trashcan shows an abundance of tissues. My humble abode is a mess from this weekend of being (partially?) sick. I really do feel fine, just the physical thing of being sick.

I will take that over being miserable, sleepy, headaches, etc since that is what most people feel like when sick

Earphones & Stop Signs

Greetings Readers

As you can see from the picture, I had to purchase another pair of earphones. The prior pair that I was using... well only the right side works now. The left side, I think, has a loose connection and now the connection is loose, which drives me crazy. Music, no music, music, no music, etc. The pair of earphones on the left are the ones that do not work anymore, but somehow I can not make myself throw them away.

So, I caved and bought another pair, same exact model. And of course a SONY. Perhaps not caved, since I had no choice to purchase a new pair. Either I get or I don't, which in turn means that I can not listen to music while biking. Though, that is not true either. I have a pair of earphones at work. I have two pairs at home. I just need to have a specific pair and that is the reason why that I have to buy another pair of earphones at Target.

Well, this is the third pair of these specific pair of earphones that I have bought, so far. Before this exact type of model and brand, I bought the blue pair of SONY earphones. Which is the pair that I have currently at my work computer.

And before the clip around your ear earphones I was into the ear buds. Which I currently hate. Somehow those ear buds get dislodged from my ear while biking. Eventually one of those ear buds drops into my front wheel and there goes the whole ear bud. Ripped from the end of the wire. Along with the 10 bucks I spent. That pisses me off also. So, with the invention of clip around your ears earphones I have loved this type of device. Granted, my Oakleys sometimes prevent the earphones going in all the way into the ear. No biggie though.

Yet, there was a time that I was wearing headphones (the skinny type) upside down from my ears. Yep sort of like a stethoscope. The reason was the headphones could not be worn while I was wearing a bike helmet. Stop! That is not the reason why that I do not wear a bike helmet so do not even go there, my friend. =)

Anyway, I love this particular type of earphones and I do recommend them. Granted, I have some friends that would not use this type. Not a problem. To each his/her own. You are "entitled" to do that.

Speaking of "entitled" - the ignorant biker, has posted that on one particular day he/she decided to stop at all the stop signs. Shit - does this ignorant biker want his/her cake too?! He/she wants entitlement to the streets of Denver, but wants to stop at stop signs only when he/she decides that is the day he/she obeys the law. To me this ignorant biker is a h-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-e in the making. Or perhaps this is being introduced to the ignorant biker while biking now. Who knows. Who cares.

I just wanted to point that out he/she posted "Today I decided to stop at all stop signs" and this is the same ignorant biker that is "entitled" to the streets of Denver.

Me? Of course I stop at all stop signs. There are no ifs, ands or buts. Other bikers and yes there are a lot of them "run" the stop sign. So be it. I know where I stand and I am only worried about myself. Yes, those other bikers make me or other bikers who do not run stop signs look bad.

I have many, many stories that I could post for you readers, but I guess they are all about the same. Impatient vehicles, where to ride when coming to stop sign. Who goes first? Next? Where to look? More important - signal with the proper hand signals bikers. And so on...

There is sometimes confusion at the stop sign intersection, but me being me I do well. I have a routine and 99 percent of the time my routine works.

In fairness, I know where most of the stop signs are and with that knowledge I avoid that area to bike. There are not many stop signs where I reside (Centennial) in the suburbs of Denver, but I still will stop. This goes with me wearing earphones I need to stop and look just in case of that one vehicle driver that decides to not follow the general routine of a stop sign stop.

Also, near Central Denver/Denver, there are a lot of Stop signs intersections, but that should not matter. Learn, obey, adapt, and get over it. Life is not fair and never, ever handed to you on a plate.

As my old boss would say "Sucks to be you" and laugh. Hah hah.

Platte River Half Marathon

Greetings Reader

It is time for the 6th Annual Platte River Half-Marathon and Buckhorn Exchange Relay that is this Sunday. Has it been six years already?

I remember last year at almost the same day. Boy oh boy was I having a bad morning and not to mention I was a bit pissed. But, the important thing is that I got over it. (and yes - I do have a post in my archives)

I actually have to say that I am going to register today (yep a day early - amazing). Sunday is going to be a sunny day and I think after a two week break I am ready to run a half marathon. I am not sure that I am going to get near or beat my record from a few years ago, but I maybe try. It will depend on how I feel today and tomorrow.

Oops, sorry readers. I had to check my time from back in the day 2004, I think. Actually, I think I have a good chance. My time from back then was:

1:50:11 and my place overall was 118.

I think beating that time should be pretty feasible. Though I am not making any promises. I guess I was thinking about another 1/2 Marathon where my time was 1:42, I think. And that is why I thought that may be out of the question to beat that time.

Anyway, A nice long break and some bike riding the past two weeks I think I should be okay for a great run.

And then I want to touch upon a remembrance. Pam Daale (pictured on today's post). It was the day of the 2nd Annual Platte River Half-Marathon & Buckhorn Exchange Realy that I heard Pam passed away from Cancer on April 4, 2004. I was sadden by the news and even now as I write this blog I remember Pam as if she was on TV doing the weather in her wheelchair.

Pam was terrific weather person. I am sorry readers - I need to give her the respect she earned in my view - Pam was a terrific meteorologist. She was more than just a weatherperson. She was not ditsy, I never heard any dumb references in general. I enjoyed her weather forecast during the week's evening news. Then, somehow (And I do not know WHY the reason why Pam was moved to the weekend forecast on TV) I saw Pam on Sunday's evening news. Deep in my heart I knew that it was Channel's 7 doing. Though a mute point now. But, then all of a sudden it seemed to me that Channel 7 was "milking" her fight with cancer. Again, I could go on an on but I am not going to. This post is about Pam.

I never knew personally. I never met her. Yet, I think of her as a friend since I watched her forecasting on Denver's TV. Yet, I think, it is because I have known several women who have passed away from this type of Cancer and a few who have been cancer-free that I feel emotional about Pam. I did not like seeing her in a wig, but I would overlook that since she was someone I watched and respected on the news. Pam Daale would be the second most person I liked as a newscaster. First and foremost is Ed Sardella - perhaps another time readers, another time.

I remember that Sunday - 04/04/04 - the sun was shining so bright, there was some low clouds, but what a wonderful day. If that was a day to pass away then that was a perfect morning and day. I could actually visualize her in the hospital bed with the sun light streaming in perhaps knowing that this was the day.

Anyway, Pam Daale's passing and the Platte River & Buckhorn Exchange 1/2 Marathon is something I put together and can not help to think of both. Perhaps I should "dedicate" my run tomorrow to her - though that is something with myself only. I do not mean to sound cheesy, but perhaps that will make up for something, whatever that might be

If I am the only one, besides her family, that remember Pam - so be it. One is better than none.

until the next time

Rebecca

Greetings Readers

I am going to start with that my "new" bike, Rebecca, is now 1 year old as of last week. I am very happy to say that I only have ridden her 281.2 miles in one year. Fantastic!

I think I have shared some photos of Rebecca, but not really a lot and no close ups. I did ride a few times last year, but not nearly enough. Not a problem. She is so beautiful that I hate taking her out for "just a ride."

I know that the photograph is not a good shot, but I needed one right away so I could post right now. Today, there was rain and snow so I dare not take Rebecca out for a photo shoot.

Hell, the only time that Rebecca goes out for a ride is when I know the weather is going to be clear and sunny. Any hint of rain or right after a rain shower Rebecca does not go out!

Yep, I know - c-r-a-z-y, but when I love and adore something I make sure to take care of that the best I can, until the "newness" wears off. Or my love. Or I get another new woman in my life.

I know that some of you readers are probably scratching your head and thinking to yourself that he only road 281 miles in one year on Rebecca! 281 miles. That's all?!

Yes. that is all. I have no problem with that. Matter of fact I think I have not ridden Rebecca since October of last year.

And, I hate to say this, but I am looking for a new woman since clearance of last year's models are being done now.

Until the next time

The Priceless "CD Player"

Greetings Readers

If you have been reading along about my life you know that I just came back from vacation.

Well, last time I went on vacation I forgot to bring my SONY CD player that I love. I did bring my Ipods, but that was not enough in a manner of speaking.

When I am travelling I am usually traveling to remote places and new areas that have fantastic radio stations.

I guess I am saying that Denver has no decent radio stations. Though there is really only one that I listen to and that originates out of Boulder, CO and that would be 97.3 KBCO. Other than that there is no real good radio station(s) that I am faithful to. I do have my favorite radio Disc Jockeys that are still around (from the 80's, early 90's) and everyone once in a while I will try to listen to their program's on whatever radio station they are currently are on.

I digress. So, travelling to New Mexico I have already pre-programed my CD player with the radio stations that I love to listen to down there. Rock, Pure Rock, stations are abundant. None of this 90's Rock/Alternative rock music. Not bad at all, but these radio stations claim that is "rock", which in fact it is not.

I, of course, love other stations that play rock from all periods.

The only drawback is the morning shows in New Mexico. They suck. Endless talking and dumb, dumb and I mean dumb jokes and skits. Sexual innuendos, bad jokes, puns, etc. And all these morning shows seem to have 3 or more people hosting and they are constantly tripping over each other trying to respond to one another. And "fake" laughing at each other's jokes.

Then again, perhaps with me getting older and older, I do not enjoy the morning shows any more. Yes, there was a time that I loved listening to the morning shows. There was Jamie, Frank and Frosty (Alice), Pete McKay (the Peak), Jo "Mama" Myers ( KAZY ), Redneck Roy (KPKE), etc., back in the day, but now I can not stand the new era of disc jockeys. Perhaps, I no longer have the tolerance for morning shows of that kind.

Anyway, I brought along the CD Player which also has the functions to listen to TV stations and access to 7 different weather bands. Also, New Mexico is a haven for AM Radio station from the coast of California to as far East as Louisiana. I love going through the AM band at night because that is when AM stations are the clearest. For example - Hearing the traffic update on I-105 in CA.

Also, this particular portable CD player has been with me for years and has been faithful and dropped so many times that I am in awe that it is still working. I bought and trusted SONY and this particular purchase has paid off. Worth the Benjamin I dropped.

There you have it. Though as I mentioned in the past year I have been introduce to the Ipods - four of them now and since last year those Ipods have been the center of my listening. My CD player now sits near by Cd's gathering dust.

I still love use my CD player, but only now use every once in a great while.

Until the next time
